MPC Numbered & Unnumbered Objects
$39.00
Description
The MPC Numbered & Unnumbered Objects product is a compiled list of 1,000 MPC Objects calculated for any date and time (UT) of your choice. For the numbered list, you may choose the first 1,000 objects (1-1000), the second 1,000 objects (1,001-2000), the third 1,000 objects (2,001-3000), etc., up to the limit of discovered objects that can be retrieved from JPL Horizons. For the unnumbered list, you may choose a particular 7 or 8-digit SPKID number (e.g., 3246900, which is the first object 1927 LA), and we will count the 999 objects that follow. The unnumbered list is sorted by the year of discovery followed by an alphanumeric sequence. The same applies to the unnumbered comets; the first SPKID listed is 1000589, which is C/-146 P1. With the Sun, Moon, Planets, Pluto and Chiron included as a bonus, this product contains 1,011 total objects.
The current available JPL count, as of 2024-02-19, is:
1) Numbered objects (asteroids and comets) = 640,561.
2) Unnumbered objects (asteroids and comets) = 713,472.
We list the date of retrieval of these objects, the first 11 mentioned followed by the 1,000 object set of your choice, each linked to JPL SBDB and MPC. These may be sorted by any of these coordinates: Right Ascension (RA), Declination (DEC), Latitude (LAT) or Longitude (LON). The default is by LON with the retrograde (Rx) status listed in the adjacent column.
The MPC Numbered & Unnumbered Objects product is an Excel password-protected file.
Note: Some objects may not be available for calculation prior to a certain date, e.g., asteroids, etc., before 1599 CE, Bennu before 1900-01-02, etc. Also, the lists that are uploaded here to look at may have changed at JPL by the time an online order is placed and filled. In this case, we will use the current SBDB query list to count the 1,000 objects requested from a starting SPKID.
In addition, to minimize processing orders with mistyped SPKID numbers, we will require that when you receive your order receipt, please confirm in your reply “Yes, all is correct” or “No, here are some corrections,” and, then, the order will be processed by us. Thanks for your cooperation!
