Description

The APS product Galactic Chart Calculations is a listing of all objects used in our product Natal Chart Calculations, excluding the Behenian Fixed Stars. The data include the classification of the object, MPC Number, Name, Ecliptic LON and LAT, and Galactic LON and LAT, and Rx status. The listing is sorted both ways, i.e., by Ecliptic LON and Galactic LON, so this product includes BOTH files.

In the Galactic Coordinate System, with the Sun as the center, objects are located within our Milky Way galaxy by ‘longitude’ and ‘latitude,’ similarly to Right Ascension (RA) and Declination (DEC) in the Equatorial Coordinate System. The Galactic LON of an object is a projection of the angular distance around the Galactic Equator from the Galactic Center. Unlike equatorial coordinates, the Galactic LON of an object may or may not be Rx unless, of course, it’s the Sun or Moon, and it may be inconsistent with the Ecliptic LON.

Also, the Galactic LON of an object is not consistent between all objects at the same Ecliptic LON. It all depends on the LAT and DEC of an object. When the Sun, for example, is precisely at 0° Pisces on February 19, the Galactic LON will always be at 16° Taurus 46’30.3”. An object with a different LAT and DEC will have a divergent Galactic LON.

We encourage astrologers to utilize the Galactic LON of objects in their delineations, just as many do with objects at the same DEC, an aspect known as a parallel (PAR) or contra-parallel (C-PAR). Our studies have indicated that objects at the same Galactic LON share a common, unified and/or joint purpose with respect to the individual Soul within the Galactic sphere.

At APS we are proud to be the innovator in providing these Galactic Chart Calculations.
